It’s hard to believe that Liam Hendriks is just a year removed from being an afterthought in the fantasy landscape. After beginning last season behind Blake Treinen, Hendriks has officially taken over as the Oakland’s closer.
The Australian finished 2019 with an amazing 41 saves (more than he recorded in his previous eight major-league seasons combined). His 1.80 ERA also made him one of the most dangerous relievers in baseball.
The 2019 All-Star will look to recapture his success as he heads into 2020. Hendriks is rated as the 86th best player on ESPN and the 108th on MLB.com. Expect the rising star to post another 30-35 save season with solid numbers across the board.
He should especially be targeted my managers who elect to draft 2-3 aces and fill the rest of their roster with relievers.
