Warriors: 2 ways the team could land Giannis Antetokounmpo
By Allen Settle
Option 1: Free Agency
By far the team’s best chance is to wait for the Greek Freak’s free agency period in the summer of 2021. Golden State has an allure and a proven history of signing three star players under the league’s current salary cap roles. However, this method does pose a few issues.
First of all, there have been no indications that Giannis is interested in leaving the Milwaukee Bucks.

In fact, he has been vocal about his commitment to remain with the franchise who drafted him. To their credit, the Bucks have also done a good job of building a perennial contender around their star.
If Warriors fans seriously hope to have a chance Antetokounmpo, they should be rooting for a falling out between the star and his current team.
Additionally, signing Giannis would create a timeline dilemma for Golden State. While the thought of Antetokounmpo playing alongside prime Curry and Klay is enticing, the reality is that, in this scenario, a union between the two wouldn’t take place for another two years.
This would leave Curry at 33 years old and Thompson and Green at 31. This is not a major issue. And the super team would be more than capable of dominating the league.
However, the window would likely be short.
Note: The chance for a sign-and-trade deal also exists within this option.
