The San Francisco Giants are expected to be active in free agency this offseason, but they may not necessarily be targeting big names. Here are three realistic, low-profile targets for the team in free agency.

The San Francisco Giants are set to take part in a pretty busy offseason — highlighted at least initially by the hiring of a new manager and general manager.

At almost exactly a year ago to the day at the time of writing, the Giants introduced Farhan Zaidi as the team’s newest president of baseball operations. And while Zaidi’s first offseason with the team was uneventful, perhaps it needed to be that way.

The Giants were never going to be serious contenders in 2019 — despite an exiting dose of July magic. And the same is likely true of this upcoming season as Zaidi continues to rebuild the farm system and rid the organization of some truly awful contracts.

As such, it’s unlikely the Giants make a huge splash in free agency. While it would be nice to bring Gerrit Cole back to the West Coast, it remains a pipe dream that we’ll see him in San Francisco next season.

It’s more likely that Zaidi opts to look for bargain deals once again to prevent the team from making any more deals that will hinder the franchise’s future. We all know the Giants don’t need any more of those.

With that being said, let’s take a look at three realistic, low-profile players the Giants could feasibly target in free agency this offseason.
