Oakland Raiders: 3 players who could be traded away at the deadline

When the Raiders used the last of their three first-round picks in this past draft to select hard-hitting safety Johnathan Abram, the writing appeared to be on the wall for another former first-round safety.

But Karl Joseph has managed to stick around with the team — perhaps aided by an untimely injury to Abram in Week 1.
That said, it’s still unclear if Joseph is in the Raiders’ long-term plans. Back in March, the Raiders decided to decline Joseph’s fifth-year option indicating that his future with the team appeared to be over.
And even though he has been a reliable starter this season, his limitations as a player and the presence of Abram next season will likely result in the team moving on in the offseason. That is unless they could move on sooner.
Joseph is a player who could be moved prior to the deadline with a few teams around the league — including the Dallas Cowboys — looking for safety help. This would be a clear move for the future as it would leave the Raiders dangerously thin at safety.
Lamarcus Joyner is busy manning the slot as well as playing safety while the likes of Erik Harris and Curtis Riley don’t do much to inspire confidence. But it might make sense to get what you can for a player who likely won’t be here next year.
Joseph is a quality player, but he’s playing on borrowed time in Oakland until his eventual departure.
