Golden State Warriors Film Room: 141-122 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers
3. Curry relocation
This is the second play on the page. You can find it by clicking this link here.
This is something we are used to seeing from Stephen Curry, time and time again. He has the mismatch on Ivica Zubac so he tries to isolate but it’s not possible because Beverley is shadowing him to protect against this.
Beverley left his man, Jacob Evans to do this, which meant Shamet had to move down to guard Evans since he is right underneath the basket. Shamet is happy to do this because he is guarding Draymond Green — a poor three-point shooter.

This means Green is wide open at the top of the arc. Curry sees this and makes the pass to him. He then sprints along the baseline to the other corner.
Playing for the Golden State Warriors, there are several rules. One rule that is near the top of the list, is that is Curry is sprinting towards you, you must always set a screen for him.
Robinson is new so he forgets this rule momentarily and actually calls for the ball. Green then waves him away, telling him to screen for Curry. Luckily he does it quickly enough and the play continues. Curry catches the ball and predictably makes the wide-open three.
Interestingly, Evans tries to use Robinson’s screen for a second before realizing it’s actually for Curry. Evans played well in this game but he needs to be more aware of the spacing on the court.
Hopefully, this is something Evans will develop further as he gets more game time for the Warriors in the weeks and months to come.
Overall, there was a lot to be happy about with the Warriors offense. When Golden State played within their free-flowing team offense like it was 2015, they were a joy to watch.
Some of the isolations and pick-and-rolls were good but potentially too common. This should be something the coaching staff will try to limit for the rest of the season.
