Oakland Raiders: Top 3 takeaways from Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers
The Oakland Raiders fell to the Green Bay Packers 42-24 thanks to a career day by Aaron Rodgers. Can the Raiders finish out this road trip of doom on a positive?
If it hasn’t already been said enough, the NFC North is an incredibly tough division with a lot of teams that are going to beat each other up heading late into the season.
While that might spell good news for the Oakland Raiders in terms of how their first-rounder from the Chicago Bears looks, they were on the receiving end of another fantastic showing by one of the all-time greats in Aaron Rodgers.
On Sunday, the Oakland Raiders fell to the Green Bay Packers 42-24, bringing them to 3-3 on the season.
Now at 6-1, the Packers are a serious threat led by none other than their elite quarterback. The Oakland defense ultimately got shredded by Rodgers, and the Silver and Black offense couldn’t keep up.
It was a valiant effort, but one that fell short of securing a much-desired statement win.
After stringing together a couple of impressive weeks, the Raiders sat above .500 while the team that they’ve been chasing, the Kansas City Chiefs, had to come to grips with the fact that Patrick Mahomes would be out of action for three weeks.
No one believed that the Packers were going to be a simple task for this young Raiders squad. With wins over Joe Flacco, Jacoby Brissett, and Chase Daniel, Raider Nation was itching for a win over a top-tier QB.
Unfortunately, that top-tier QB decided to throw for 429 yards, five touchdowns, and post a perfect passer rating of 158.3.
The Oakland Raiders ran into a buzz saw and became casualties to an all-time performance by an all-time player. But there are still positives to be seen, even if there are still questions about whether or not the Silver and Black can elevate their game to the next level.
With matchups on the horizon that include a touch task in containing Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans, followed by a homecoming against another tough NFC North opponent in the Detroit Lions, the Raiders still look for that statement win.
Perhaps we didn’t get that this past Sunday, but the Raiders are still trending in the right direction; they’re still sitting at .500 and have a lot to look forward too — especially if they can make a push at the trade deadline.
They’ll continue searching for that statement win if they want to surpass the highly acclaimed Kansas City Chiefs, but they continue to be in the mix.
Here are the top four takeaways from the Raiders’ Week 7 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
