Oakland Raiders: Rookie stock report following Week 7 loss to Green Bay Packers
By Nico Di Fede
Stock Up: Josh Jacobs, Alec Ingold, Foster Moreau
Josh Jacobs had his second over 100-yard game in a row rushing for 124 yards on 21 carries. His longest run of the day was a 42-yarder on the Raiders’ opening drive as Jacobs showed his spectacular vision getting through the first line of defense and then cutting outside into the open field.
His jump cuts on that play were a thing of beauty as well as they are what got him into the open field for the long run in the first place.
Jacobs also showed his power earlier in the drive, channeling his inner beast-mode and running over Packers safety Adrian Amos on a nine-yard run.
Jacobs also had a 27-yard run late in the third quarter on a long 74-yard drive that ended in a turnover on downs.
Following the game, Jacobs sits at eighth in the league in rushing with 554 yards while being only one of four running backs with a 5.0 or better average with at least 100 carries.
Pro Football Focus put him on their Week 7 “Team of the Week” with fellow Raider Darren Waller, with a 90.0 grade on the day.
To cap it off, Jacobs has already gotten himself into the Raiders history books surpassing Bo Jackson for the most rushing yards by a Raiders running back in their first six career games with only one yard more than Jackson gained during his first six games back in 1987.
This is a week after surpassing Marcus Allen for the most yards among Raiders rookie running backs through five games. That’s pretty good company.
Fullback Alec Ingold continues to pave the way for Jacobs as he logged 16 offensive snaps making up 24% of the total offensive snaps following the best game of his career versus the Chicago Bears.
This was a homecoming game for Ingold, as the rookie from Wisconsin grew up and went to high school in the city of Green Bay.
Ingold has already made himself a staple of the Raiders offense as we all know Gruden loves his fullbacks and the offense has leaned heavily on the running game.
Because of that, Ingold is given plenty of opportunities on the field to show that the position does still have value and that using a roster spot on a fullback who will mostly block is not outdated, as some seemed to think.
Speaking of good blocking, Foster Moreau continues to have a solid rookie season as he hauled in two receptions for 24 yards and a touchdown.
Like Ingold, Moreau is coming off of the best game in his young career against the Bears and through seven weeks has been a big part of the running game, especially in two tight end sets.
Moreau has shown that he would probably be a starter on multiple teams as he and Waller make up one of the best tight end duos in the league.
They rank first and second among all NFL tight ends in terms of reception percentage with the duo combining for 47 catches on 53 catchable balls.
