San Francisco 49ers: Game breakdown and prediction for Week 7 against Washington Redskins
By Sean Basile
It’s a simple game on paper for the undefeated San Francisco 49ers, but can they take care of business and continue their hot streak? Or will they slip up here?
The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a dominating road performance over the defending NFC champion Los Angeles Rams where their defense held Jared Goff to just 78 passing yards and a 54.2% completion percentage to win 20-7.
Now, the 49ers take a major step back in opponent and travel to the East Coast to take on the 1-5 Washington Redskins.
There’s no question about it. The Niners are huge favorites in this game and rightfully should be. But the Niners can’t get cute here and fall into a lull because this is a classic trap game.
The Redskins are one of the worst teams in football this year, but in this game, they’re at home and the 49ers are riding high after a huge divisional win. Is this going to be a game where they get caught napping?
The Redskins also won last week. Yes, I know it was the Miami Dolphins they beat but they still have momentum heading into the Niners matchup.
What the 49ers need to do here is stick to their regular game plan and continue to do what they’ve been doing for the first five games of the season, which is running the ball and controlling the clock while their defensive front dominates.

If they start changing things up and chucking the ball downfield and turn it over, Washington is going to start to gain confidence and we could then see one of the biggest upsets of the season.
This has been a very good road team, aside from being a great overall team, that hasn’t really faced too much adversity yet, except for a little bit in the Pittsburgh Steelers game.
Mistakes are bound to happen and the 49ers are bound to lose at some point (it’s just statistically unavoidable). But I don’t think it’s going to be just yet.
I have the Niners winning this game 28-7 and moving to 6-0 on the season. You can’t run on them. You really can’t pass on them.
And as good as your offensive line may be, the 49ers defensive line will find a way to get to your quarterback with their stacked allotment of first-round picks.
Hopefully, the Niners don’t get caught napping here and they take care of business against a team still in shambles in the Redskins.
