Golden State Warriors Position Preview: Analyzing the shooting guards
Alec Burks
Alec Burks is the only shooting guard besides Klay Thompson that you could call an NBA veteran. He has been in the league for eight seasons now, and he has never really managed to make his mark.
Burks’ career has been plagued by injuries, which have always set him back, just when he started to look like he got an opportunity to break out.
For the first seven years of his career, he played for the Utah Jazz but since then he’s moved around from team to team trying to fit in.
The Warriors will be hoping that Burks can recapture some of the magic that he showed glimpses of in his early days. For the Warriors, his ability to run pick-and-roll, leading the second unit is exactly what they need.
They need a veteran to lead the very young bench unit and make sure they all know what they’re doing. Burks can be that guy.
Verdict: 6th-man, 24-28 minutes per game
