Golden State Warriors: Top 3 takeaways from 104-98 preseason loss to Los Angeles Lakers

3. Jordan Poole shows off the other side to his game
The Warriors knew what they were getting when they drafted Michigan standout Jordan Poole in the first round of this year’s draft. Poole excelled with the Wolverines as an excellent three-point shooter and had enough flashy plays in his lone year starting to fill a 30-minute highlight reel.
But with flash came his mistakes. A lot of mistakes.
We got a glimpse of the “on” version of Poole over the first two preseason games as the young shooting guard finished second on the team in scoring in both meetings, shooting a very efficient 43% from three-point range.
But on Monday, we saw the other side of his game.
Poole shot just 3-of-14 from the field including a measly 2-of-9 from three-point range. On top of that, the rookie racked up five turnovers as he was as erratic with his ball-handling as he was his shooting.
The Warriors will quickly learn to take the good with the bad when it comes to Poole. Some nights he’ll shoot 50% from three and perhaps lead the team in scoring coming off the bench and other nights he’ll shoot under 25% and rack up plenty of boneheaded turnovers.
Either way, expect Poole to take his fair share of shots whether he’s on or not.
We’ve now seen both the good and bad versions of Poole. And for the Warriors’ sake, let’s just hope we see more of the former than the latter this season.
