Stephen Curry

ESPN Ranking: 6

Obviously, Stephen Curry is one of the best players in the NBA. Most NBA fans and writers would agree that he is easily top-10.

However, placing him in the top 10 is difficult. ESPN’s top-10 players seem relatively sensible in terms of who is in it. However, the ranking could be a bit altered.

More from Golden Gate Sports

There seem to be three tiers within the top-10. Ranks 7-10 should be Paul George, Damian Lillard, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic in some order. They are all very close to each other, and placing them seems irrelevant.

Ranks 4-6 should be James Harden, Anthony Davis, and Stephen Curry in some order. This is also what ESPN has. They have Curry at 6th, Davis at 5th, and Harden at 4th.

Curry will no doubt be more impactful than Harden this season. With the loss of Durant, Curry will have higher usage and could have an MVP type season.

For Harden, it is the exact opposite. He is gaining a player in Russell Westbrook, who is a complete basketball vacuum. Harden’s usage will decrease and Westbrook will take some load.

For that reason, Harden should be sixth, Davis fifth, and Curry fourth.

The top tier should be Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James, and Kawhi Leonard. Once again, it doesn’t really matter what order they’ll be in. They are all going to be MVP candidates this season, it doesn’t matter what order they are in. Any of them could be number one.

Curry’s ranking should be fourth.
