Oakland Raiders: Rookie stock report following Week 2 loss
By Nico Di Fede
Stock Neutral: Clelin Ferrell, Hunter Renfrow, Foster Moreau, Alec Ingold
Clelin Ferrell played the most of the bunch as he was on the field for 76% of the defensive snaps while also playing on five special teams snaps. He finished with three total tackles — two solo and one assisted.
Ferrell had a more impactful game last week for Denver, as he didn’t get much pressure on Mahomes in this one, not really catching your eye at any point in the game like fellow rookie defensive end Maxx Crosby did.
At the same time, I did notice that he is already getting doubled at times, which is why I don’t want to say his stock is down after only two weeks, even if he has a low PFF grade so far at only 45.6.
Hunter Renfrow, on the other hand, had a more productive game this week than he did last, leading the team in targets with eight, but only hauling in four of those for 30 yards, the longest being 11 yards.
The fact that he was targeted most means he is running good routes and getting open, but it’s clear he needs to gain strength so that he can deal with physical defenders when tightly covered.
There was a play where Carr threw Renfrow the ball in the middle of the field and it should have been caught, but his lack of strength allowed the corner to get his hands in front of him and break it up.
Foster Moreau played on 15 offensive snaps, but his name doesn’t come up in the box score as he didn’t register a single stat. Moreau is mostly a blocker and can be counted on to do well there, but he has the ability to be a decent receiver as well.
He will need to start showing up more in the passing game as the team is without a true No. 1 or 2 receiver and need to be able to spread the ball around to multiple guys because of that.
Alec Ingold only played five offensive snaps and the team didn’t run the ball much which goes to show how good Jacobs performance was as he still got near 100 yards.
Because of that, Ingold’s stock is neutral, though last week’s performance combined with his special teams ability does put him on more of the positive side of neutral.
