Livingston Posterizes Richard Jefferson

This is the very next play of the video, starting at 0:08. This came in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals with the Warriors up 3-1 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

We don’t need to think too much about how this game and then the series turned out, but this is just a vicious slam from Livingston on Richard Jefferson.

A slight miscommunication from the defense on the switch of the ball screen leads to an opening for Livingston to drive. It’s hard not to feel sorry for Jefferson as the help defender in this situation as he had to try but there’s really nothing he could do.

Alley-oop from Livingston to Ezeli

The next play to focus on is at 0:25 in the video. This came in a regular-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers in a regular-season game in 2016.

This comes off of a pick and roll which isn’t quite shown in the clip from the video. D’Angelo Russell goes under the screen from Festus Ezeli because Livingston isn’t a threat from three.

The angle and positioning of the Ezeli screen, however, meant that it would be much easier for Russell to go over the screen. Because of this, Russell ends up taking an age to get around the screen.

It takes so long that Russell should really switch onto Ezeli to stop the pass and force Livingston to shoot over the big man defender. Livingston hangs his dribble in the air for a while allowing making the big man back up and this also freezes Russell.

From there he just needs to wait until Ezeli has got free before he serves up a perfect alley-oop dime to leaping Ezeli for the flush.
