Week 16: vs Los Angeles Rams

After falling to the Rams on the road, on the heels of a three-game losing streak, San Francisco buckles down and has their strongest showing of the year. Their defensive line is able to slow down the run game and Jared Goff is unable to get the offense rolling consistently.

At the same time, Shanahan responds to the recent struggles with some new adjustments that lead the 49ers up and down the field with ease.

It’s a fun game to watch and the first of many that are both relevant to the Rams and 49ers playoff positions in the Shanahan/McVay era. However, early in the fourth quarter San Francisco pulls away and puts the game to bed.

Prediction: W 41-27 (9-6)

Week 17: @ Seattle Seahawks

The NFC West is set up to go down the stretch as a three-headed monster.

The Seahawks are set to be right there with Los Angeles at the top of the division and even if you don’t believe the 49ers are quite to that level talent-wise, the ease of their schedule early sets them up to be neck-and-neck in the standings.

Given that set of circumstances, this game will likely have playoff implications for both teams. Seattle’s home-field advantage is something all too familiar to 49ers fans and it strikes once again.

At 9-7 the 49ers have a record that could qualify for the playoffs, but they’ll be reliant on other teams to misstep.

Prediction: L 34-16 (9-7)
