1. Quinton Bell, DE

The Raiders selected Quinton Bell in the seventh round of this year’s NFL Draft fully knowing the project that was ahead of them. After all, Bell was a converted wide receiver who had played just one year at defensive end for the FCS-level Prairie View A&M Panthers.

But Bell’s ungodly athletic testing numbers gave promise for future success if the Raiders could somehow harness his natural athletic ability. Unfortunately, he looked lost at times in the preseason and ultimately failed to make much of an impact.

For that reason, it wasn’t surprising at all to see him cut a few days ago. Allowing him time to develop on the practice squad is likely the best thing for him at this point.

But it’s going to take some major development for Bell to turn into a viable NFL contributor. However, that doesn’t mean that the team shouldn’t try.

2. Lester Cotton, OG

Many hoped that offensive guard Lester Cotton would be able to sneak on to the back-end of the roster this summer. And after the suspension to projected starting left guard Richie Incognito, it looked like it could be a possibility.

Unfortunately, he was surprisingly bumped off the roster by undrafted UCLA offensive lineman Andre James. Nonetheless, Cotton ended up signing on to the practice squad.

Cotton displays impressive power and could be solid guard depth to develop for the time being. Coming from Alabama, Cotton had a bit of draft buzz prior to April but ultimately went undrafted.

The Raiders will be hoping that he could develop on the practice squad and potentially earn a full-time roster spot at some point down the line.
