The Oakland Raiders have officially made their first round of cuts prior to the start of the 2019 season. Here are three takeaways before the final cuts are made this Saturday.

The Oakland Raiders have concluded their four preseason games and are now just over a week out from the start of their 2019 regular season. All of the anticipation has led up to this as the team is ready to take the field for Week 1.

But first, the Raiders must make some necessary roster cuts.

The deadline for cuts is 4 p.m. ET on Saturday but Oakland made sure to begin the process a day early In total, 13 roster moves were made on Friday as the 90-man roster was trimmed down to 77 players.

There were some surprise cuts and many not-so-surprise cuts, but we did learn quite a bit after just over a dozen moves were made. And we’re sure to learn even more once the final releases are made Saturday afternoon.

But for now, let’s take a look at the top three takeaways from Friday’s first round of cuts.
