7. Finishers

De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Trevor Ariza, Dewayne Dedmon

Whilst Fox and Hield are clearly the best backcourt duo for the Kings finishers, the other three positions are up for grabs. However, what puts Ariza, Barnes, and Dedmon above players like Bogdanovic, Bagley, and Bjelica is their experience and ability to stay calm in the big moments.

Ariza will be key defensively to limit isolation plays from the opposing stars, as will Dedmon. Barnes can provide leadership at the other end by ensuring his teammates make the right plays at the right time and execute properly.

It is even more important that they do this since their head coach is also relatively new to coaching. Walton will relish the guidance and advice Barnes and Ariza give him from their experience playing key roles on championship-contending teams recently.

Fox and Hield will be the driving, creative force behind the offense in crunch time. At the end of games, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Fox isolate out top with the ball with a little bit of weak-side action for Hield to get him open.

There Fox has the option for a pass to an open Hield or to create his own shot off the dribble. Fox is so quick and strong that he can pretty much get to any spot on the floor that he wants.

Unless someone else is scorching hot, I want the ball in Fox’s hands at the end of games if I’m his teammates. Throughout his very young two-year NBA career, he has already amassed quite the collection of clutch highlights.

This is just a collection of highlights from Fox’s second year in the league, but so many of them are towards the end of the game or end of the quarter. Also, it’s notable how much Grant Napear says “if you don’t like that, you don’t like NBA basketball.”

That is the sign of an exciting young Kings player in action.

This lineup should end games for the Kings with some potential for minor changes based on what players have been playing well during the game.
