5. Defense

Cory Joseph, Buddy Hield, Harrison Barnes, Trevor Ariza, Dewayne Dedmon

Joseph and Ariza have always been known for their perimeter defense, and Dedmon has built his reputation around shot-blocking. Hield and Barnes are average-to-good defenders who can guard at least three positions each.

Having a player like Ariza gives this lineup defensive versatility and, most importantly, intelligence. Ariza will guard one through four and all extremely effectively. He’s one of the players on this team who is likely to see a jump in his minutes from the regular season to the playoffs.

Every team executes better on offense in the playoffs and as a result, the defensive intensity ramps up. Ariza can be the man to guard superstar wings like Paul George, Kawhi Leonard, Bradley Beal, and Klay Thompson.

This Kings defensive lineup could help provide some playoff upsets against Western Conference favorites.
