Development of De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley amongst other young players will be what can propel the Sacramento Kings into the playoffs.

If the Sacramento Kings are going to make a splash in the loaded Western Conference then Luke Walton will have to make sure to employ the correct combination of players at the right time.

This is key for the young Kings team as they need to have a mix of their young explosive athletes and their more experienced veterans to keep them calm and level-headed.

The King roster currently looks like this heading into the 2019-20 season.

  • PG: De’Aaron Fox, Cory Joseph, Yogi Ferrell
  • SG: Buddy Hield, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kyle Guy
  • SF: Harrison Barnes, Trevor Ariza, Justin James, Isaiah Pineiro
  • PF: Marvin Bagley, Nemanja Bjelica, Tyler Lydon, Caleb Swanigan, Wenyen Gabriel
  • C: Dewayne Dedmon, Harry Giles, Richaun Holmes

This is a deep team filled with potential. They will all buy-in to Walton’s fast, run-and-gun style of basketball. The fast-break is where Sacramento lived last season, ranking third in the NBA in pace of play.

Ranked fourth was Luke Walton’s Los Angeles Lakers.

Many were skeptical about Dave Joerger’s firing, but the Kings taking the risk on Walton has led to one of the best coach-team marriages in the NBA right now.

As this relationship matures, Walton will find which of his lineups he’ll need to go to in various situations throughout the game. He has a lot of different options, on this versatile team, which we’ll explore here.
