Golden State Warriors: Analyzing the various lineups the team could use
5. Defense
Jacob Evans, Klay Thompson, Alfonzo McKinnie, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney
The loss of Kevin Durant will have a left a huge hole in their offense however, it will also impact the Warriors’ defense significantly. Having a player with that sort of mobility and length will always be helpful for the defense.
The Warriors will need to throw specific lineups on to the floor in order to counter Durant’s exit.
Evans is a capable defender who can guard one through three, as can Thompson. McKinnie can guard two through four effectively.
Green is one of the best defenders in the league and can arguably guard all five positions. Looney is an excellent interior defender who can also defend perimeter players if he gets switched onto them.
Offensively, this unit will rely on Green’s playmaking and Thompson’s gravity to pull apart defenses with Evans and McKinnie as floor spacers and Looney crashing the boards.
