2. Other Competitors

Others could point to the sharpshooting duo of Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum as the possible top backcourt in the NBA. Lillard and McCollum have become the faces of Portland Trail Blazers basketball and are finally starting to get the national recognition that they deserve.

But they still do have some limitations as players that keep them from retaining the top spot. Those limitations primarily come defensively where neither will be confused with a dominant defensive stopper.

Still, their offensive playmaking and scoring abilities are enough to keep them in the conversation.

Perhaps you could even consider Utah’s new duo of Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley for the top spot. If you include Ben Simmons as a guard, Philadelphia’s combination of him and Josh Richardson is quite impressive as well.

We should even give a shoutout to the unheralded duo of De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield who neighbor the Warriors to the north in Sacramento.

But in reality, the only three that could stake a legitimate claim are the Rockets, Trail Blazers, and of course the Warriors.
