Golden State Warriors: Why Stephen Curry is the greatest point guard in NBA history
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry is one of the best players in the NBA and is a fascinating player and person. You can argue that he is the greatest point guard in NBA history.
There is no doubt about it — Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is one of the greatest players of his generation. You can’t help but admire the way he plays the game, as well as the person he is off the court.
When he was in high school, he was not heavily recruited. He was labeled as ‘too short’ and ‘too scrawny’ to be an NBA superstar. Then came his college career at Davidson; that’s when he became a sensation and proved everyone wrong.
Fast forward to today, Curry has three championships with the Warriors, six All-Star Game appearances (all in a row), and two MVP awards.
When you watch Curry play basketball, you are sure to witness some of the most amazing plays and reactions the game has ever seen. He simply makes the game fun.
He’ll shoot a half-court three at the buzzer, make it, and then do a dance that turns into a meme on Twitter a minute later. His shooting is absurd in the best way possible and is unmatched by any player in NBA history.
Not only is he a great player, but he is also an even better man. The way he treats his family and teammates is so refreshing to see. Even though he is the biggest superstar in the NBA, he still does youth camps and contributes to charitable events.
He supports his wife, Ayesha, on her cooking endeavors. He drives his daughters to school and prays with them. You can’t help but love him. He’s kind, funny, and a genuinely good person who is making a difference in the world.

Now, I know being a nice guy doesn’t make you the greatest point guard ever, but it does help his reputation. Sure, Magic Johnson is one of the best ever to play at the position, but his personality helps his likability and legacy as well.
There is no way that the Warriors would have won three rings without Steph. He is the backbone of the team; without him, the Dubs level of play decreases significantly. He is truly a leader in every sense of the word.
He is never selfish and knows the value of his teammates surrounding him on the court. No player has ever anything bad to say about the so-called ‘Baby-Faced Assassin’. His own former teammate, Andre Iguodala called him the “second-best point guard ever.”

You could gather data and statistics on all the great point guards in NBA history to determine who is truly the best point guard of all time. Based on the length of his playing career, I would assume number one would be Magic Johnson.
But, I’m not taking that approach. I’m basing my ranking on the man as a whole — on the court and off. What Curry means to the game of basketball right now is unrivaled.
The impact he is having on the future of the game and its future players means everything. He is the best role model possible for all the youth purchasing a Curry jersey each season.
That is what makes him the best in NBA history. Stephen Curry is not just an NBA point guard, he is so much more.
