San Francisco 49ers: Top 3 fantasy football sleepers for 2019
By Justin Fried
1. Tevin Coleman, RB
The 49ers backfield appears loaded going into 2019 which is typically the kiss of depth for fantasy lineups. But one player does appear to be primed to emerge from the pack — at least in terms of fantasy production.
That player is Tevin Coleman who signed a modest two-year, $10 million contract to join the 49ers in the offseason.
The signing reunites him with former offensive coordinator and current 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan who coached Coleman during their time together in Atlanta. And that very connection could give Coleman a leg-up on his competition.

Shanahan utilized Coleman heavily in Atlanta’s offense even with the presence of Devonta Freeman. Back in 2016 — Shanahan’s last season with the Falcons — Coleman recorded nearly 1,000 total scrimmage yards, 11 total touchdowns, and 31 receptions on 40 targets.
Anyone concerned about Breida and McKinnon stealing playing time from him should realize that Shanahan will find ways to get Coleman the football, even with other options in the backfield.
Coleman should see the majority of goal-line work and is the best suited to catch out of the backfield. Don’t be surprised if the 49ers even line him up at receiver from time to time — something Shanahan made use of in Atlanta.
All of this means that Coleman is the 49ers running back to own and that he could very well finish better than his current No. 21 ranking among running backs by CBS Sports.
Coleman could finish the season as a borderline RB1/RB2 which would be superb value for where he’s typically being drafted at the moment.
Of the 49ers three-headed monster in the backfield, Coleman is the clear player to target.
