The San Francisco 49ers season is almost ready to kick-off and the same goes for fantasy football season. Here are three 49ers players who should be considered fantasy sleepers this year.

The San Francisco 49ers will enter the 2019 season with hopes and expectations not too dissimilar to last year. However, now with a clean bill of health (hopefully), the team looks primed to compete for a playoff spot.

The 49ers revamped their offense in the offseason adding two receivers in the second round of the NFL Draft in Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd. The acquisition of former Atlanta Falcons running back Tevin Coleman gives the team one of the deepest backfields in the league.

And the return of Jimmy Garoppolo should give them a much-improved presence under center to further stabilize the offense.

With the offense being so improved, we could see a number of players become true standouts this year in fantasy. But given the team’s unfortunate 2018 season, many of these players will be slept on.

Of course, we’re not talking about someone like tight end George Kittle, but these three players aren’t being talked about enough as viable fantasy options and are thus being overlooked.

Let’s take a look at the top three fantasy sleepers on the 49ers roster.

3. Jimmy Garoppolo, QB

And just like that, the hype train is back in full swing for Jimmy Garoppolo.

The 49ers expected to get an extended look at their hopeful franchise quarterback last season but a torn ACL suffered in Week 3 derailed his and the team’s season before it could really get started.

But back now and with an improved supporting cast, Garoppolo could be in line for a big-time season — provided he could stay healthy, of course.

Currently, CBS Sports has Garoppolo ranked as the 21st quarterback in fantasy which really only makes him relevant in two QB leagues. But Garoppolo could very well outperform his initial value and surge into the top-15 if all goes according to plan.

The 49ers will, of course, return top pass-catcher George Kittle but they now host a much-improved receiving core featuring the likes of Deebo Samuel, Jalen Hurd, a returning Marquise Goodwin, and second-year breakout candidate Dante Pettis (more on him later).

On top of that, the addition of Tevin Coleman in the offseason gives the team another receiving threat out of the backfield to go along with the returning Matt Breida and the now-healthy Jerick McKinnon.

There is no shortage of playmakers in this 49ers offense and Garoppolo could be the primary beneficiary of such.

Don’t be surprised if Garoppolo finds his way on to the top-15 or even top-10 quarterback list by season’s end.
