5. The All-Star Break will be shortened

This season, Will Smith served as the lone All-Star representative for the San Francisco Giants. It’s hard enough, already, to imagine who will be on the Opening Day roster for San Francisco in 2020, so trying to think of who will represent the team at the All-Star Game is a near-impossible task.

What we do know is that whatever player (or players) is selected, he’s going to get booed.

The All-Star Game will be in the same city the Giants will open up the 2020 season at — Los Angeles — against the rival Dodgers. Whoever is selected from the Giants will have to take the short flight from the Bay Area down to SoCal, but the rest of the team will have to follow closely behind.

While most every team in the league will be receiving a four-day streak of off-days as a result of the All-Star break, the Giants won’t be so lucky; they’ll be playing against the Dodgers the day after the All-Star festivities wrap up.

That might not sound like much, but taking away off-days in the dog days of summer can be tough on a team, especially if the Giants are ailing in some way.

The best thing that San Francisco can do is load up on NL All-Star selections so that the entire team can hang out in LA for a couple of days together before picking up on regular-season action.

It would certainly be good news if the Giants could pull that off next season.
