5. We will be seeing the Houston Astros early and often

The Houston Astros being the whipping boys of the AL West all those years ago sure was nice while it lasted. But they’re probably going to be a team that contends consistently for at least the next half-decade.

In the 2020 season, the A’s aren’t going to be able to hide from the Astros. If they’re going to want to compete, they’re going to have to do it early on.

The two teams are set to play all nineteen of their games against each other by July 29.

The A’s won’t get another chance to look at the Astros for the last two months of the season. Every single game will be completed before the Trade Deadline strikes its cutoff. How did that happen?

We’re not quite sure. But that’s 19 games out the A’s first 108 where they’ll have to play against a 2019 World Series favorite.

At least it sets up the next point well.
