Oakland Raiders Fantasy Football Outlook: Studs, Duds, Sleepers, and Rookies
Duds: (The players who will be drafted early but will not live up to expectations for a variety of reasons)
Darren Waller, TE — You may be asking yourself who this is or if you dive deeper into fantasy why is he here and not a sleeper?
Jared Cook was a Raider, Jared Cook had highlight catches and TDs, and Jared Cook went to the Pro Bowl for the first time last season. Darren Waller is not Jared Cook.
Last season, the Raiders traded Amari Cooper and got very little from veteran Jordy Nelson. If you are expecting that kind of production from Waller then he will be a bust. I’m not saying you cannot draft him, just do not reach for him.
The converted wide receiver has been getting rave reviews from players and coaches about his athleticism and potential, but the issue is whether or not he will convert that into production when the season starts.
High profile offseason additions (Brown, Williams, Jacobs) on offense will likely limit Waller’s opportunities. Waller could easily be a sleeper this season but that all depends on your expectations.
