Oakland Raiders: Preseason Week 1 — Stock Up/Stock Down
By Nico Di Fede
Stock Down: Mike Glennon, QB
Mike Glennon had a frustrating performance. He would make all his reads, look off receivers and make a nice touch throw one play, then the next stare a receiver down and throw an ill-advised ball.
The perfect example of this came in the second quarter during the Raiders fifth offensive possession.
Glennon completed a pass mentioned earlier to Ryan Grant where he was along the sideline and kept it in bounds, followed by Keon Hatcher’s best play as previously mentioned where he had to adjust to an underthrow.
Following that, Glennon hit Marcell Ateman on an improvised route where he turned his curl into a streak faking out the corner and brought it to within the 12-yard line.
On second down, Glennon stared down a receiver to the right of the end zone and threw it right to the defender who made the easy pick. Two drives that were looking good in this game were ended by a play where Glennon stared down a receiver which both resulted in picks.
On top of that, he underthrew two balls to Nelson and Hatcher respectively that should of both went for six. Nathan Peterman had a good performance so Mike Glennon will have to step it up if he is to remain the top backup quarterback.
