Underrated: OG/OT Denzelle Good

Much like Joyner, Madden seems to have mislabeled offensive lineman Denzelle Good‘s true position — or at least the one where he should be playing the majority of his snaps in 2019.

Whereas Joyner is listed as a free safety but will be expected to play mostly slot corner, Good is listed as a right tackle but will be competing for the Week 1 starting job at left guard. On top of that, his 62 overall rating from Madden is just straight up disrespectful.

More from Golden Gate Sports

The Raiders claimed Good off waivers prior to Week 14 of last year and the former Indianapolis Colts draft pick wasted little time getting into the starting lineup. Good would play the final four games of the season and start the final three at right guard in place of the aforementioned Jackson.

While Good didn’t necessarily play at an All-Pro level, he provided a steady enough presence to warrant a reputation as a reliable backup swing tackle/guard. That’s why his 62 overall rating is just far too low.

That rating is more indicative of a third-string/practice squad caliber player — not one with starting experience competing for a starting job.

Now, Good will likely assume his role as a backup once Richie Incognito returns from his two-game suspension. But for the time being, Good will be competing with traveled veteran Jonathan Cooper for the Week 1 job at left guard.

And if he could come out on top, Good should have the chance to boost his Madden rating before long.
