San Jose Sharks: Who should be the team’s next captain?
By Justin Fried
1. Logan Couture
There is no better and more obvious option to become the Sharks next captain than Logan Couture himself. Much like the others on this list, Couture has been a member of the Sharks for a significant period of time having played in San Jose for a decade now.

The 30-year-old is enough of a veteran that the older players on the team will undoubtedly respect him while still being young enough to relate to some of the younger players.
After serving as an alternate captain under Pavelski, this seems like the next, most obvious step. Couture could step up and slot right into the captain role without the team missing a beat.
Now, Couture would likely lead the Sharks in a very different way than Pavelski. While Pavelski is professional and judicious with his approach, Couture is a bit blunter. He isn’t afraid to tell it how it is as he’s been outspoken in the past regarding previous cold spells for the team.
Couture has his fair share of accomplishments on the ice as well serving as the Sharks’ top-line center. The 2007 first-rounder has scored 25+ goals in each of the last three seasons and is coming off a career-high 70 points during the 2018-19 campaign.
A promotion is in order and it’s time for Couture to become the 13th captain in San Jose Sharks history.
