4. Nick Bosa, DE

Some of you may be wondering why Nick Bosa needs to prove anything in 2019? Simple. Being selected second overall in the NFL Draft means he has to produce from the get-go. It comes with the territory of being a top pick in the draft.

The same is going to be looked at with Kyler Murray, Quinnen Williams, and the rest of the top 10.  There definitely will be some learning curves, but that’s not going to be sufficient enough of an excuse for a guy who has been touted as the most NFL-ready prospect.

That kind of hype, along with the prestige of being taken second overall, means he has much to prove. If we reach midseason in 2019 and Bosa only has three sacks, then he is going to be scrutinized.

There is a lot of talent on the 49ers defensive line so he has a strong supporting cast to take some of the attention off of him. He just has to get to the quarterback or at least show he’s wreaking havoc at the line of scrimmage. Bosa also has to prove that he can remain healthy for a full season.

So far, the signs aren’t pointing in the right direction.

Bosa tweaked his hamstring on the very first day of OTAs. It may just be OTAs, but considering Bosa is someone with a thick history of injuries this is somewhat alarming.

You just hope it’s nothing, but if he suffers an injury in the regular season then day one of OTAs is going to be revisited.
