This will be the third draft for Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch since they took their positions with the San Francisco 49ers. They must nail the 2019 NFL Draft in order to set themselves up for short and long term success.

Finally! After so many weeks of rumors and hypothetical scenarios, the “EndGame” is finally here tomorrow and I don’t mean “Avengers: EndGame.” I’m referring to the end of all the silly mock drafts that just outright scream for attention. The 2019 NFL Draft is already a day away and is poised to be once again filled with a ton of surprises.

For the San Francisco 49ers, this is a draft that they absolutely must hit on.

Now I’m not saying they need to hit the jackpot, that simply isn’t realistic. But they definitely need to turn some of these picks into immediate impact starters. With only six picks in this years draft, it is crucial that they make the right selections. Six picks are not sufficient enough to fill some of the empty holes on this team’s roster. Expect John Lynch to trade back in round two or three to stack up some more capital.

This is going to be year three of six in the Kyle Shanahan and John Lynch regime. Hitting on these picks is not only critical for this upcoming season, but for future seasons. The players that will be selected in this draft will ideally be players that help set this team up for success in the short and long term.

The 49ers can’t afford to keep waiting to take the next step. 2018 was already a washed season once Jimmy Garoppolo tore his ACL. 2019 is a no excuse season for Shanahan and Lynch. They need to be serious threats in the NFC and contending for the playoffs.

After three seasons, they’ve had plenty of time to turn over the personnel to their liking. Now it is time to execute and take it to the next level. It starts with the draft tomorrow. Selecting at No. 2 is the pick that they can ill afford to shank on, especially since they could’ve used it as trade collateral for Odell Beckham Jr.

Taking Nick Bosa or Quinnen Williams is the best course of action since they are viewed as locks to be studs. That is unless a team unloads a serious haul of picks to them to trade for. Bonta Hill, 95.7 The Game radio host in the Bay Area, said it best when it comes to the 49ers picking at No. 2.

"“You better nail this draft when you didn’t want to move off the (No. 2) pick because I know the type of player OBJ is…”."

Once again, the 49ers have to be serious players this season.

Making the playoffs is ideal, but it’s about making significant strides. Anything less than a .500 this season will put Shanahan and  Lynch on the hot seat for 2020. It’s why they must hit on their picks tomorrow.

The NFL draft is like baseball. So long as you make contact you have a shot at a home run. It’s striking out that the 49ers need to do their best to avoid to ensure that the 2019 season produces well.
