C.J. Mosley, ILB, Baltimore Ravens

For years, the Raiders have been ignoring the inside linebacker position. They continue to fill the role with aging linebackers, underwhelming youngsters or a combination of the two. Well, it’s time they finally invested heavily in one of the defense’s most important positions.

They can do that by spending their money on a superior talent with a proven track record. As you’ve probably figured out by now, I’m referring to C.J. Mosley, the Baltimore Ravens’ star inside linebacker who has made a name for himself as an all-around playmaker who impacts the game in many different ways.

Put simply, Mosley does it all. Whether he’s stepping up to stuff the run or making his presence felt in coverage, the veteran linebacker knows how to torment opposing offensive coordinators. He’s been the heart and soul of the Ravens’ defense for the last few years, including last season’s top-ranked unit.

The stats tell the story of a dominant defender. During his five NFL seasons, he’s amassed 100 or more tackles in all but one. In that same timeframe, he compiled 8.5 sacks, nine interceptions, 35 deflected passes and six forced fumbles. If you’ve actually watched him play, though, you know that Mosley is much more than just a stat sheet stuffer.

I can assure you he’s worth whatever the Raiders would need to pay to sign him this offseason.

While that may be the case, the odds are slim the Ravens let him walk. And yet, if they do, Mayock better roll out the red carpet and convince Mosley to move to the Bay Area — at least for one year.
