Kane-Hertl-Donskoi line must produce

Perhaps one of the best lines in the NHL, a significant contributor for the Sharks being in second place in the Pacific Division, is the work of Evander Kane, Tomas Hertl, and Joonas Donskoi. As mentioned in a previous article, if this line can stay consistent, the Sharks could be unstoppable.

Credit goes to the growth of Hertl as he is taking full grasp of playing at the center position. In the past, placing Hertl as a centerman came with poor results as he did not seem comfortable. The plan for him was to be at center after playing on the wing, but injuries delayed his development.

However, from the start of the season, Hertl produced on the scoresheet frequently more than any teammate posting points. Hertl is playing with an edge, playing physical in front of the net, and making an impact on the top power-play unit.

Coach Peter DeBoer took notice and opted to roll the dice by putting Hertl back at center. The gamble is paying off based on the chemistry created by the line. Goal scorers in Donskoi and the physical Kane creates a deadly combination with opportunities to find the back of the net when DeBoer calls their numbers.
