San Jose Sharks: Keys to ensuring a deep 2019 NHL Playoffs run
By Andrew Bet
With All-Star festivities in the rearview mirror, the San Jose Sharks must build off recent success with a few essential factors to shine during the postseason.
The NHL-mandated break came at a good time for the San Jose Sharks. After a seven-game win streak came to an abrupt halt, the Sharks dropped three straight before salvaging a win ahead of a lengthy layoff. As part of the CBA agreement, all teams are given a week off during the season.
With the All-Star Game taking place in San Jose last weekend, the Sharks got a few extra days before returning to the ice. A few critical players, especially on the defense, missed significant time and should be healthy enough to get back into the lineup.
For now, a spot in the playoffs appears to be a lock barring a complete collapse. The Sharks are currently 29-16-7, trailing the Calgary Flames by only a few points and holding a significant lead on the rest of the competition. As long as they can keep things rolling at their current pace, a trip to the postseason is nearly in the bag.
As the unofficial start to the second half begins for the Sharks, here are a few things to look for if San Jose is to make a deep run during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
