Golden State Warriors Rumors: Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis headed for NYC?
The latest Golden State Warriors rumors suggest Kevin Durant could leave this offseason, opting to join Anthony Davis as the newest New York Knicks stars.
Fans everywhere know the potential exists for Kevin Durant to leave this upcoming offseason when he becomes a free agent. Based on the latest Golden State Warriors rumors, though, it’s not the Los Angeles Lakers who are gaining momentum as his top potential landing spot.
As it turns out, the New York Knicks could be preparing to put together their own star-studded lineup. On top of being in the middle of the race for Anthony Davis, who recently requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans, it’s believed Durant will seriously consider taking his talents to the Big Apple as well.
That is, according to Bleacher Report’s Ric Bucher:
"The Knicks, on the other hand, haven’t been a preferred destination for years—but there are indications of that potentially changing. League sources believe they have “a strong chance” of luring Durant should he leave the Golden State Warriors this summer and that Davis is “open” to New York as a landing place as well. Throw in a pick in this year’s NBA draft that could potentially add Duke’s Zion Williamson or RJ Barrett or Murray State’s Ja Morant, and there’s finally a reason for optimism in Manhattan."
Could you imagine a lineup that included both Durant and Davis? Obviously the Warriors have a pretty good thing going with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Durant and DeMarcus Cousins, but it’s scary to consider two of the best forwards of the modern NBA joining forces.

Would it turn the Knicks into overnight contenders? Possibly. Would it be enough to beat the Warriors (assuming Thompson re-signed) in a seven-game series? Probably not.
Either way, it’s a situation worth keeping an eye on. The Knicks may not have much to offer in the way of competitiveness right now, but they do have a premier market with which to lure superstars. If they can convince the Pelicans to send them Davis (which would likely cost them Kristaps Porzingis) and then win 2019 NBA free agency with a Durant signing, we could see them skyrocket up the Eastern Conference standings.
For now, this is all speculation. It’s anyone’s guess what the future holds for Davis, Durant, the Knicks and the Warriors. For all we know, Davis could end up staying put after all, Durant re-signs with the Warriors, and Golden State continues to be the cream of the NBA crop. Then again, it is the NBA, where crazy things happen on a regular basis.
The one thing I will point out is this: there’s been a lot of smoke about Durant leaving this upcoming offseason. And where there’s smoke, there’s usually fire. Don’t look too deeply into it just yet, but you may want to prepare yourself for the very real possibility of KD’s departure.
