The Oakland Raiders figure to be busy during 2019 NFL free agency, but need to avoid these big-name players if they plan on returning to relevance anytime soon.

It’s going to be a big offseason for the Oakland Raiders, who have plenty of money to spend during 2019 NFL free agency and just as many assets at their disposal during the 2019 NFL Draft. Now, it’s up to Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock to make smart personnel decisions.

With Reggie McKenzie no longer calling the shots, you’d think that’d be an easy task, right? Well, not so fast. With great power comes great responsibility, and that means ensuring that every dollar spent and every draft pick used this offseason is invested in the right players.

Keeping with that theme, I’ve decided to put together a few names of star free agents the Raiders must avoid come March. For one reason or another, they simply aren’t worth the money they’re likely to cost when the time comes to make a final decision. Do they really need to get into another salary cap fiasco McKenzie spent so much time digging them out of?

They can avoid that situation by avoiding the players on this list.

The Raiders are at a crossroads right now. The pressure is on Gruden to get it right this offseason, and avoiding big blunders during free agency is the first step. Keep these guys in mind as big names the Raiders should steer clear of when the market opens.
