Yusei Kikuchi has Giants among top landing spots
While not quite the superstar Shohei Ohtani was one offseason ago, Yusei Kikuchi is the latest international star to garner the attention of MLB teams and fans everywhere. Naturally, the sweepstakes for his services is heating up, and with that comes a bevy of rumors.
Well, as it so happens, the Giants are among the leaders to sign Kikuchi. Or, more specifically, they may actually be the leader at this point in the process.
First bonafide Winter Meetings factoid: Yusei Kikuchi really likes San Francisco as a potential landing spot. #sfgiants might be his first choice. From a good source not named Scott Boras.

It makes perfect sense, right? What’s not to love about the Bay Area? Plenty of pretentious techies roaming around staring at their iPhones, mind-numbingly overpriced housing and zero parking unless you’re willing to pay an arm and a leg for it. Then again, I doubt most MLB stars have to deal with these types of things on a regular basis.
At this moment, the Giants possess probably four quality starting pitchers. You could maybe make a case for a fifth. Seeing as there’s safety in numbers, though, it only seems logical for San Francisco to set their sights on signing Kikuchi once he’s posted by the Seibu Lions.
The 2019 Winter Meetings are going strong, and the fun is at full blast. Don’t be surprised if the big moves start rolling in for the Giants as they look to reassert themselves as an NL team worth taking seriously.
