During a Reddit AMA, the Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson had some questionable selections for who he’d pick to help him survive on a deserted island.

We all know that Klay Thompson is quite the character. He never ceases to provide us awesome quotes during post-game interviews, and we can’t forget the toaster. Put simply, he makes the Golden State Warriors all the more interesting to follow.

Things got even more interesting yesterday during a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) that Thompson took part in. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the event, it’s where various people, celebrities, athletes, etc. answer a wide range of questions from the community. Hence the “Ask Me Anything.”

As part of the AMA, Thompson decided to tackle the task of naming three NBA players to join him if he were stranded on a deserted island:

"Probably Steven Adams up first because he looks like Aquaman and he would be well versed in the ocean. Then probably Steph because it seems like he’s a good critical thinker and solves problems really well. And a third, man that’s a good question… who do I know in the NBA that likes to do outdoor stuff. I’d probably pick, Karl Malone because guy is a great hunter I guess. He’d be the hunter and gatherer of the crew. He has huge elbows, knock some animals out."

Okay then. Let’s take a deep dive into Thompson’s unique list.

More from Golden State Warriors

Well, for starters, the Steven Adams selection was a given. The guy is huge at 7-feet, 265 pounds, and looks like Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones. You just know he’d handle himself fine in the wild, and is physically capable of fending off any sort of threat that arises. Good call on Klay’s part.

Next on his list is Stephen Curry. Now I’m not sure about you, but I’m far from sold on this selection. Sure, the other Splash Brother and former NBA MVP is smart, instinctive and a quick decision-maker, but he’s physical limited. At least he wouldn’t plow his way through your food supplies.

Finally, we get to Karl Malone. Thompson gives a solid reason for this pick, but I think he erred for a couple of reasons. First, the person who asked the question was probably looking for current players. Second, and related to the first point, is that “The Mailman” is 55 years old. As great of a hunter as he may be, there was probably a younger, more physically capable option out there with similar wilderness savvy.

Definitely an interesting bunch. I’d imagine that would make for an epic season for “Survivor” — watching four NBA players try to tough it out on a remote island, with only Adams’ brawn, Curry’s intelligence, Malone’s hunting prowess and Thompson’s quick wit to carry them through to the finish line. You’d pay to watch that, right?

Next. Steph Curry provides perfect response to fan's letter. dark

There were probably some better options out there, but Thompson at least pretends to know what he’s talking about. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume that band of misfits would Tom Hanks their way to safety.
