Golden State Warriors: Green suspended after blowout with Durant
The Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers went down to the wire, with Draymon d Green making a decision in the closing seconds that irked a teammate.
The Golden State Warriors have a another Draymond Green/Kevin Durant disagreement to sort out. Monday night, both Dubs stars were visibly upset with each other after a last second decision by Green. This strain carried over into the locker room after the game as well.
The Warriors, were without superstar Stephen Curry, but managed to tie the game 106 in the last seconds of regulation. Green rebounded the ball after a Clippers missed basket.
Instead of passing the ball to an open Durant, he fumbled and watched as the ball rolled away from his possession, sending the game into overtime.

That’s when he and Durant started getting into it.
Klay Thompson and DeMarcus Cousins tried to play peacemakers, but that didn’t stop Green and Durant from speaking their minds. Durant was mad that Green didn’t pass him the ball and cost them the chance of winning the ballgame.
Going into overtime, Durant fouled out quickly and the Warriors went on to lose the game to the Clippers by a final score of 121-116.
But, it didn’t end there. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the argument continued back in the Dubs locker room postgame.
Although described as the most intense argument in this era of Dubs basketball, fans should not start overthinking this exchange. There were no punches thrown. No players had to be separated or held back from one another. No one even got up from their seats.
First of all, this has happened before. Green and Durant are two very passionate personalities who are very involved in the game they play. They want to win.
This has occurred before and will more than likely occur agaim.
Another factor that supposedly may have added to this heated exchange is the fact that Durant will not commit to staying with the Warriors once he becomes a free agent after this season. Green seems to be very sensitive to this fact.
After going over the situation, the Warriors PR team released a statement announcing that Green will be benched without pay for one game due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”
He will serve this suspension against the Atlanta Hawks at Oracle Arena on Tuesday. According to ESPN, this will cost him a whopping $120, 480.
Now comes all the Warriors haters hoping this drama means the Champs are starting to implode.
Are Durant and Green going to be annoyed with each other forever? No.
Is this all being blown of proportion? Probably.
Is this team going to crumble in the long run because a couple players who are passionate about the game had a disagreement? Probably not.
As Shaun Livingston said, both players were simply showcasing their, “Team spirit.”
