Former Cal football players had big weeks in the NFL, including Goff and Rodgers getting their respective teams back in the win column.

Coming off the Rams’ first loss of the season, former Cal football quarterback Jared Goff helped Los Angeles bounce back with a divisional win against the Seahawks. The third-year signal-caller completed 28 of his 39 pass attempts, racking up 318 yards to go with a pair of touchdowns and no interceptions. His second touchdown came on the first play of the fourth quarter, a strike to tight end Tyler Higbee that put the Rams ahead for good as they improved to 9-1.

Goff crossed 300 yards for the sixth time this season, and for the 11th time in his career. He also passed the 3,000-yard mark on the year, becoming the first Rams quarterback to go over 3,000 yards in consecutive seasons since Marc Bulger did so in 2003 and 2004. His 3,134 yards on the season ranks second in the NFL to the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, whom Goff and the Rams face next Monday night.

The 24-year-old threw his 1,000th career pass in the NFL, a 16-yard completion to his running back Todd Gurley early in the third quarter. With the victory, Goff became the ninth QB in Rams’ franchise history to win 20 games as a starter.

Go Pack Go

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers kept Green Bay alive in the NFC North race, leading them to a win against the Dolphins. It wasn’t his typical flashy big game, but he was efficient in completing 19 of his 28 attempts for 199 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Of course, Rodgers wasn’t intercepted for the fifth straight game, and he was thrown just one pick in 355 attempts this year.

Rodgers has now thrown 330 touchdown in his career, 10th-most in NFL history. His 41,243 yards are 17th-most in the league’s history. Both totals are by far the most for a Cal Bear in the NFL.

Nice Catch

Keenan Allen caught six passes for 57 yards and a touchdown as his Chargers beat the Raiders to improve to 7-2. It was Allen’s second touchdown of the year, but his first since the season-opening game, and 24th of his career, seventh-most by a Cal Bear in the NFL. He’s up to 376 receptions, moving up to eighth in Chargers’ franchise history. The Chargers are well within range for a playoff spot, but will have to settle for a wildcard berth unless they can leapfrog the red-hot Chiefs.

Washington receiver Maurice Harris’ breakout continued on Sunday as his team beat the Buccaneers. One week after setting personal bests with 12 catches for 128 yards, Harris had the second-best day of his young career this past weekend. He caught five balls for 52 yards, both numbers that rank second on his single-game list. On the year, he has 26 catches and 278 yards, both totals more than double the total from his first two seasons (12 catches, 128 yards).

DeSean Jackson played his 150th NFL game on Sunday, and made five grabs for 67 yards as Tampa Bay fell flat against Washington. His first catch of the game was a 24-yarder, his 11th catch of at least 20 yards this season (tied for 10th-most in the NFL this year). He leads the NFL at 21 yards per reception this year. Jackson now has 10,180 yards in his career, moving up to 45th all-time.

Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan picked up a sack during Sunday’s blowout win against the Bengals. It was his sixth sack of the season, but the first in his last four games. He’s up to 65.5 sacks in his career, third-most among Golden Bears in the NFL and fifth-most in Saints franchise history.

Chiefs right tackle Mitchell Schwartz has been a constant, steady presence since his first day in the NFL. On Sunday against the Cardinals, he started his 106th consecutive game, the current longest active streak for NFL tackles. He’s also closing in on 7,000 consecutive snaps played, needing just seven snaps on Monday to reach that milestone.

Lions wideout Marvin Jones Jr. caught three passes for 55 yards during Sunday’s loss to the Bears, but left the game early in the third quarter with a knee injury. He got some good news on Monday though: it’s just a bone bruise, and right now he’s listed as day-to-day.

Falcons kicker Giorgio Tavecchio is still perfect during the 2018 season. On Sunday, he made his only field goal attempt from 40 yards out, and added an extra point. He’s made all 13 kick attempts on the year (five field goals, eight extra points) for 23 points.
