Oakland Raiders: The good, bad, and ugly from preseason win over Seahawks
By Kevin Saito
The Oakland Raiders wrapped up the preseason slate with a big win over Seattle – let’s take a look at the good, bad, and ugly from the game.
The Oakland Raiders have taken one more step toward the regular season, dispatching the Seattle Seahawks 30-19.
They’ll see Seattle again, in a week six matchup being held in London’s Wembley Stadium, but you can expect that both teams will look markedly different – it’s going to be very far from the “Our Scrubs vs. Your Scrubs” Bowl that was just played.
The fourth and final preseason game – the final dress rehearsal, so to speak – was about what you’d expect it to be. Without the starters playing – indeed, about 40 of Oakland’s regulars weren’t in the game at all – it was sloppy, ragged, and mostly uninspiring football.
That’s not to say it didn’t have its good moments and standout performances. Because, it did.
But, it also featured plenty of forgettable performances by guys who are going to be shown the door sooner, rather than later.
Though we’re starting to get a better idea of how the final 53-man roster is starting to shape up, there are obviously, still a lot of questions that need to be answered, and a lot of things still up in the air.
There were plenty of guys firmly on that roster bubble who took part in the game with Seattle. Some guys really needed to shine in that final preseason game to make a case for their inclusion on the 53-man roster.
Some guys stepped up and showed out, while others – probably shouldn’t have shown up for the game at all. And there’s one, who probably wasn’t allowed back on the team plane and is having to take an Uber home from Seattle.
About all we can say for the preseason slate is that – it’s done. Yeah, the Raiders went 3-1, and there are plenty of things to feel good about. But, there are just as many things to be concerned with, and questions that still need to be answered.
We’ll start getting some of those answers tomorrow, as the Raiders make their cuts and pare the roster down to the league limit.
Until then, let’s take a look at some of the good, the bad, and the ugly – of which, there were plenty of all three on display – in the final preseason game with the Seahawks.
