Dez Bryant has made it apparent that he wishes to play for the San Francisco 49ers, but should the team be interested in signing the wide receiver?

The San Francisco 49ers have made many improvements to their team this offseason. Through both the draft and free agency the team has added talent throughout the roster. It seems as if the team has just about finished upgrading, with the draft now behind us. But this may not be the case.

Three time pro bowl wide receiver, Dez Bryant, has made it explicitly clear that he wishes to play for the 49ers. This statement was made when a fan asked Bryant via his Instagram comment section which team he wishes to play for.

His reply was simple.

“49ers.”

This comment was later deleted, as expected, but the truth is already out– Bryant wants to be a 49er next season.

Bryant is the biggest name remaining in free agency, as he has been without a team since being let go by the Dallas Cowboys on April 13. The only other team that has since shown interest in the former pro bowler is the Baltimore Ravens.

Bryant reportedly turned down the deal offered by the Ravens because he wanted a one-year prove-it-deal, opposed to the three year deal offered by the Ravens. It has since been quiet for Bryant, but he is trying to change that.

By making it clear he wanted to play in San Francisco he has effectively left it up to the 49ers to make the next move. If the team shares the same level of interest in Bryant that he has shown in them, now is the time to offer him a contract.

Some have been opposed to the idea of the team signing Dez Bryant, believing there is no room for him on the roster.

Soon after Bryant was initially made a free agent, we wrote a piece about why the team should pursue Bryant. The reasons stated in that still stand and the team should still try and sign him.

The addition of Dante Pettis to the team makes the need for Bryant significantly less dire, but that does not mean he can not help the team. Adding a fourth receiver will help the team greatly.

We have no reason to believe the team is currently interested in Bryant, but we will soon find out.
