Oakland Raiders: Four UDFA’s who could earn a spot on the 53-man roster
By Kevin Saito
The Oakland Raiders brought in a number of undrafted free agents – here are a few who may have a shot to crack the 53-man roster.
Well, Oakland Raiders HC Jon Gruden and GM Reggie McKenzie sure gave us an interesting draft, now didn’t they?
With the draft over though (although the wild diversity of thoughts and emotions still linger) the Raiders, like every other team in the league, continued fleshing out their roster with a crop of incoming undrafted free agents.
Over the past few seasons, McKenzie has unearthed a few gems from the ranks of the UDFA’s – Seth Roberts and Nicholas Morrow immediately spring to mind. And with some holes still yet to fill on this roster, the Raiders are hoping to strike gold with their crop of undrafted free agents again this year.
It’s going to be an uphill climb for these UDFA’s to make the roster. That much is known going in the door. They weren’t drafted for a reason.
Obviously nothing is guaranteed for these players. They’re going to have to work hard and show they have what it takes to make the final roster.
But, it seems like every year, we’re treated to stories of players who came out of nowhere to make the final roster, and have a positive impact for the team. And the Raiders have a few of those success stories of their own.
So, are there any of those hidden gems in camp with the Raiders this year? We’ll have to wait and see, of course. But, there are some needs the team still has, and a number of intriguing players who could fill them.
Let’s then, take a look at a few players who, though facing a tremendous uphill fight, could potentially make the team’s 53-man roster.
