The Golden State Warriors take a 2-0 lead in their series with New Orleans. With seven playoff games under their belts, here’s a look at some key numbers that have emerged.

The Golden State Warriors dominant win over the New Orleans Pelicans was headlined by the triumphant return of Stephen Curry. This win gave The Goldies a 2-0 series lead as the teams travel to Louisiana to resume action Friday.

After dispatching the Spurs in five games and winning the first two in the current series, the Warriors have seven playoff games down. Here are four key numbers that capture the team’s performance – so far – this post season:

  • 1: This is the number of playoff games Stephen Curry has appeared in. And it is also the number of games the the team lost in the six playoff games he was absent, as they went 5-1 while missing the two time NBA MVP. The goal now is to have Curry at full health for the next six weeks.
  • 21: The number of minutes Kevon Looney is averaging so far in the playoffs. Who could have predicted that? After the Warriors declined Looney’s fourth year option, his future with the team looked dim. But so far he has been a key contributor in these playoffs, as the only players on the team averaging more minutes are the “Hampton Five” of Curry, Durant, Green, Iguodala, and Thompson. Heady stuff for the 21 year old.
  • 37: Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are each averaging better than 37 minutes per game. And Stephen Curry is likely to join them if (when?) the Warriors face off against the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Finals. Why is this important? It means there are only 92 minutes of playing time to be doled out beyond the team’s four best players. In the regular season that foursome averaged 33 minutes per game. That uptick of four minutes per game is possible because of the staggered playoff schedule devoid of games on back-to-back days.

  • 120: The Dubs have scored north of 120 points in each of the first two games against the Pelicans, after never reaching that mark against the more plodding Spurs. Peeking ahead to a potential Rockets series, the Warriors will need that high end scoring ability against Houston. But to get there Golden State needs to take care of business in New Orleans and win at least one of the those two games – as they did in the San Antonio series. Then a close out game five and return to the Western Conference Finals is tantalizingly close.
