San Francisco 49ers Roundtable: Final seven-round mock draft
By Kevin Saito
Isaac’s Projection: Round One (pick nine): TRADE
It makes all the sense in the world for the 49ers to trade back in this draft. They need to fill many holes and the best way to do that is by acquiring extra picks. Perhaps the New England Patriots will want to trade up and select their QB of the future in exchange for their two first round picks, picks 23 and 31.

If this were to happen it would be a great idea for the 49ers to sure up both of their lines by drafting Boston College’s Harold Landry and UCLA’s Kolton Miller with the 23rd and 31st picks, respectively. This fills two of the team’s most glaring holes with two players who can start for the team for the next five plus years.
Kevin’s Projection: Round One (pick nine): Tremaine Edmunds (LB – Virginia Tech)
Given Reuben Foster’s current legal situation and the fact that the 49ers just don’t know if they’re going to be seeing him on the field this year (or potentially, ever again), the need for a linebacker is once again paramount for the club.
The 49ers really can’t go wrong with either of the top two linebackers in the draft, either Edmunds or Roquan Smith. The 49ers will opt to go with Edmunds here simply because he has a slight advantage over Smith in size.
Edmunds will be an impact player on this defense for years to come, and if Foster ever manages to get out of his legal entanglements and starts with a clean slate, they could form one of the most lethal linebacker combinations in the league.
