Week Four: At the Los Angeles Chargers

The first four games of the 49ers season is a tremendously difficult stretch, and this stretch will be capped off with a trip to Los Angeles to play the Chargers.

After the team’s season opener in Minnesota they travel back home to play the Detroit Lions, then begin a two game road trip against the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers.

After a challenging two week stretch to start the season, a two game road trip will be no easy feat.

That is precisely why the second game of this trip against a team who looks to be among the

better teams in the league going forward, the Los Angeles Chargers, will be one of the three most difficult games of the season.

Last season, the Chargers were one of the best teams to not make the playoffs ever. The team went 9-7 but started 0-4 after losing several games due to missed field goals by a rookie kicker.

The 2017 Chargers possessed the top pass rush in the NFL, led by defensive ends Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram. With the current offensive line for the 49ers, this may prove to be a very difficult duo to prevent from wrecking the game.

This Chargers’ team will have only gotten better in their second year under head coach Anthony Lynn by the time the 49ers see them.

If the team can end this torturous four game stint to start the season with a win over Los Angeles, they will return home to face the Arizona Cardinals in week five. This would give the team a great opportunity to win two games in a row, something they may desperately need if they drop some of the games to begin the season against the Vikings, Lions and Chiefs.
