San Francisco 49ers: Three most important games of the 2018 season
Week One: at the Minnesota Vikings
The 49ers will open up their 2018 season on the road against the Minnesota Vikings. Last season showed the Vikings advance all the way to the NFC Championship game before falling to the future Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not only was this team great last season, they then added the top quarterback in free agency, Kirk Cousins. A contending team that just made an upgrade at the most important position in the game is not something you hope to see in the first week of the season. Especially if you must travel to Minnesota to play them.
Alas, that is the match up the team has drawn.
It is obvious why this game will be difficult, but what makes it more important than any other game?
The importance of this game is based around the week in which it takes place. Facing a team of this caliber to open the season provides an opportunity for a major statement game. Walking away with a win against one of the top teams in the league to start the season can provide the team with some much needed positive momentum going forward.
This 49ers team is expected to be vastly improved group from what we’ve seen in the previous years. So the outcome of week one’s game may give us a good idea of where the team is at in 2018.
