 Equanimeous St. Brown, WR

With their second-round pick, the team should flip to the other side of the ball and select a wide receiver. Now that the team has secured their quarterback of the future, it is time to give him some weapons. Picking in the latter half of the second round, the best option for the team to pursue is wide receiver out of Notre Dame, Equanimeous St. Brown.

Playing alongside Marquise Goodwin and Pierre Garcon, St. Brown can give coach Kyle Shanahan the big bodied, downfield threat receiver he had with Julio Jones while he was in Atlanta, but to a lesser extent obviously. St. Brown stands at 6’5” and runs a 4.48 40-yard dash time. His measurables are that of the perfect red zone threat receiver, something the team’s offense is currently lacking.

The question is, what about him is going to make him drop this far in the draft? A big concern is his lack of college production, but that can be attributed to Notre Dame’s poor offense in his time there. There have also been some concerns with his route running technique, but that is something that can be improved with NFL coaching.

Regardless of his potential weaknesses, the 49ers should take the chance with St. Brown. His physical skillset is far too valuable to pass up on in this part of the draft. Consider the fact that the team has one of the best offensive minds in the league as a head coach who will know exactly how to utilize St. Brown’s skillset, and the pick is a no brainer.
