Pick Analysis. Offensive Tackle. player. 28. 188. Scouting Report. Wagner. Greg Senat

Knowing that Donald Penn is nearing the end of the line – and still needing to fill a big, gaping hole on the right side of the line, as well as add some quality depth – the Raiders pick up Wagner tackle Greg Senat.

With the interior of the line locked down by Rodney Hudson, Gabe Jackson, and Kelechi Osemele, the Raiders are vulnerable at the tackle spots. Penn may have a quality season or two left in him, but his best days are likely behind him.

And nobody the team has drafted recently – Vadal Alexander, David Sharpe, or Jylan Ware – or free agent pick up Marshall Newhouse, have been able to lock down that right edge. They need to get some help at the tackle position.

At six-foot-seven, 300 pounds, Senat is a large man. However, he’s also got surprising quickness for his size. He does well at keeping defenders off of him and controlling the edge.

Senat impressed scouts at the East-West Shrine Game, with some of them saying he was the best offensive lineman on the field. Praise that will only see his stock climb higher, especially if coupled with a solid workout at the upcoming NFL Combine.

Walter Football currently has Senat listed as the thirteenth best tackle in this year’s draft class, though he still lags behind some of the other more highly touted prospects.

If Senat does slip to the sixth round – and he currently has a fourth-to-sixth round grade attached to him – he could be another high value addition for a club that’s going to need some help at both tackle spots, sooner, rather than later.
